BLT: Back at the Jack!
Clybourne Park
by Bruce Norris
Directed by Pauline & Dan Armour.
BLT’s production of Clybourne Park swept the boards earlier this year at both the Bromley Theatre Guild and Kent Drama Association festivals – winning a remarkable 21 awards!
If you missed it, then here’s your chance to catch this marvellous play in the perfect setting of the Brockley Jack Theatre – scene of BLT’s recent triumph, A Doll’s House – fromTues 16 – Sat 20 Sep and Tue 23 – Sat 27 Sep 2014 at 7.45pm..
It’s Chicago 1959, and Russ and Bev are about to sell their house at a knock-down price to the first black family to move into the neighbourhood, creating ripples of discontent amongst the white residents of Clybourne Park. In 2009, the same property is being bought by Lindsey and Steve – an upwardly mobile, white couple, whose plans to raze the house and start again is met with a similar response from the local residents’ association.
Hailed as ‘shockingly entertaining’ and ‘appallingly funny’, this devastating satire explores the ever-contentious themes of race and property ownership from two time periods and leaves the audience asking whether the issues festering beneath the floorboards are actually the same.
Come and support our fabulous cast as they wow the denizens of an unsuspecting Brockley!
