Our brand-new theatre foyer is now open. It is on the left hand side of the theatre building as you enter the courtyard from Compass Lane. It is bright, modern and fully accessible and includes a new multi-occupancy lift (1100x1400mm) new, wide staircase, together with accessible & ambulant toilets on the ground floor. There is an external wheelchair-friendly ramp to the entrance – all designed to make visiting BLT easier and more comfortable for our members, performers, volunteers, and audiences as we continue to deliver our vision of outstanding theatre for everyone.

If you need to use the lift, our Front of House Volunteers will be on hand to help. When you get to the first floor, there are two steps up to access the main auditorium, after which it is step-free. A small ramp is available for wheelchair users. 

Accessible booking

Our ticketing partner’s website may not be accessible for all users. For accessible booking, please email the box office or phone the theatre on 020 3189 1690. Please listen carefully to the options. You may need to leave a voice message as we are an entirely volunteer run theatre and not always available. Your call may also be diverted before being answered.

Hearing loop

If you have a hearing aid with  a ‘T’ or telecoil setting, you can make use of the hearing loop in the main auditorium. To use our loop system, turn on the telecoil (T setting) in your hearing device. Some devices feature auto-detection for telecoil loops. ease note that the loop is not available for bar shows.

Wheelchair Users

• We are able to reserve a single space in our auditorium for wheelchair users, with an adjacent seat for one accompanying person. Please contact our Box Office on the email address below to ensure availability for your preferred performance. 
• Our Bar Shows can also accommodate a wheelchair (or more than one). However, please contact us beforehand so we can adjust the seating plan and ensure your safety.
• To book, please email our Box Office
• Our Front of House staff will assist you with the lift and provide a ramp for internal steps.
• Please inform us of any additional requirements before your visit.
• While we recommend that wheelchair users are accompanied by an able-bodied companion for safety, we can accommodate you in the theatre if you’re on your own.

Mobility Scooters

• Mobility scooters may not be able to access the theatre and should be left in the publicly accessible courtyard.
• Please check with us in advance if you plan to bring a mobility scooter.

Disabled Parking

• Our theatre is located in Compass Lane, off North Street. Whilst the theatre and Compass Lane itself does not have parking, there are options nearby: –
  • Double yellow line parking and pay and display bays are available in North Street, closest to the theatre. 
  • Single yellow line parking on College Road, which become available for parking by any driver after 6:30 pm.
  • Parking bays are also available on nearby East Street and Sherman Road.
  • We recommend that you check the Bromley Council website for further details on restrictions

accessible Toilets

• Ground floor accessible and ambulant toilets are located in the Foyer.
• There is a unisex toilet on the first floor. It may be accessible by smaller wheelchairs but there are no grab rails. Therefore we recommend use of the ground floor accessible toilet in the Foyer.

Known accessibility problems on our website

A significant accessibility issue is that our ticket provider’s website is not accessible.  Users requiring assistance with booking tickets should navigate to the next H3 heading below.

Other known issues include:-

1. There is a ‘Skip to Content’ link but it only works on a limited number of pages while we trial its use.
2. Our ‘Coming Up’ page which lists shows and events that are currently booking contains many ’empty links’ which are likely to present as URLs to a screen reader. Please use the page Accessible Coming Up instead.
3. Many pages have social media or other links which are announced as URL’s on a screen reader (for example JAWS).
4. On most pages, there is information about the next 5 plays/events. This information contains duplicate links to those specific plays/events. The information also contains an image of the play/event which serves as a link to the specific play/event but the image does not have any alt text.
5. On all pages, there are three links to Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. These open in a new tab, but there is no warning of this.
6. On most pages there are many images connected to Instagram. These have very large descriptions associated with them.
7. On our news page https://bromleylittletheatre.org/news/ there are short summaries of each news blogpost. These contain duplicate links. Please follow either link to see the full news blogpost.
8. Videos on our website do not have captions, but they are available via a link on You Tube which automatically generates captions.
9. We use a very small number of PDF’s which are unlikely to be accessible.
