Paul, our current Manager has this to say about the role:-
It’s a great role for being in the centre of what is going on at BLT. You meet lots of people, both the creative types and audience members, and you’re doing something which is, of course, critical to the theatre: no box office, no tickets, no money, no theatre!
I’ve also been able to bring about quite a lot of change: eight years ago, most bookings were made over the telephone, payments were made by cash or cheque, and we used little paper tickets torn out of a book. Today most people book online, payments are handled electronically, and paper tickets are a distant memory.
However, after eight years I feel it is time to stand back and make my contribution to the theatre in other ways, so we need a new Box Office leader/manager. Could be this be a role for you? More change is coming: there is a plan to replace the existing ticket booking system with one which will integrate membership with ticket sales, and also to move the box office out of the cupboard into more salubrious premises as part of the BLT redevelopment programme. So, there will be plenty to get your teeth into while making a really substantial contribution to the exciting future of BLT!
