Patrick is a respected teacher struggling to keep control of a life that is quietly beginning to unravel. Summer is an intelligent university student determined to fund her education whatever the cost. When their paths cross, two very different worlds collide, exposing the pressures, compromises and blurred boundaries that can emerge when desperation meets vulnerability.

Set against the backdrop of rising tuition fees and a changing Britain, Angela Pressland’s compelling drama asks difficult questions about responsibility, power and the price people pay in pursuit of a better future. Presented in the intimacy of our Studio space, A Higher Education promises a tense, thought-provoking evening where every conversation matters.

We’re especially pleased to include this play in our season. Angela Pressland has a local connection to Bromley, with two of her early short plays performed at the Churchill Theatre, making it particularly fitting to bring one of her works to local audiences once again.
