Join us at Bromley Little Theatre for an acting workshop aimed at anyone from beginners to improvers. This workshop will combine fun with the serious business of exploring objectives.

The workshop will kick off with some warm ups for focus and energy. We’ll discuss the importance of focus, energy, intention as well as the importance of vocal warm ups before practicing some exercises.

The workshop will cover the basics of improvisation and explore some scene work and exercises that will highlight the importance of communication between actors. We will then move on to create some scenes and introduce character objectives, intentions and obstacles, whilst observing the difference that this subtext makes to the performance.

We will then discuss how these techniques can help us to prepare for auditions, as well as other best practice principles for auditions and what directors will be looking for.

This workshop will be facilitated by Chris Hopkins. Chris is a graduate of The Academy of Live and Recorded Arts and enjoyed a successful professional career in TV, film and theatre. Amongst many other roles, Chris played Christopher Boone in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime with the National Theatre. We are fortunate that Chris is taking an extended break from professional acting to focus on his young family and his job as a Producer for a video gaming company – and as a volunteer and actor at BLT!

Cost: £15

Spaces: 20

All proceeds from this workshop will go towards our £85,000 building development fundraising campaign.
