Ambiguous Proposition

By Shona Newmark

Produced by Wait, What? Productions.

A gripping exploration of workplace banter, behavioural assertions and sexual misconduct allegations bringing an urgent contemporary issue centre stage which impacts one man and the lives of two women with an ongoing ripple effect on others.  Hilary Cordery stars in this one-woman play with an emotionally charged performance where the audience is hooked by the charismatic manner of a woman in charge.  A mother, whose ordered existence is rocked by events outside of her control, leading to her collapse.

The audience is confronted with their assumptions about harassment and bullying, distortion and context whilst a mother struggles to protect her son.  How can the truth be asserted by a man in this post #Metoo world?  And what is objective truth anyway?

Rather than a Who done it?, this is a ‘What was done?’.  The play premiered in the Skye Bridge Theatre in the summer of 2024 and went on to receive a 5-star review at the 2024 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Following this show there will be a 30 minute Q&A session with the performer and writer, which is included in the 1 hour 45 minute running time.  Profits from ticket sales of this performance will be split between the BLT fundraising campaign and a charity championing anti-harassment in the workplace.

Hilary Cordery is a long standing member of BLT as both an actor and director. Her acting credits credits include: –
