This event is part of our ‘Sound of Sunday’ series.
Raie is bringing a seven-piece band including the wonderful Jon Dunn on acoustic guitar, and bass/double bassist extraordinaire Christiano Tortoioli.
The band have played at top London music venues including the Hammersmith Apollo, The Forge, Albany Theatre, Cottons, Club Floridita, The Pheasantry at Pizza Express, and The Bedford.
Raie’s set will include at least 10 originals with covers from artists including John Prine, Emmylou Harris, Joan Baez, and Tom Waites.
“Raie’s first love is country music, and ‘Healin’ Train’ is a glorious blast of jangly electric guitar Americana. But whilst there are shades of Nashville throughout, the infusion of other soulful, bluesy and even gospel-laced influences delivers a diverse concoction which has its own original distinctiveness.” Martin Webb – R&R Magazine
“Scots-born, London-based, Raie is one of life’s trip-me-up revelations. A purveyor of pin-me-to-the wall, beautiful, life-enhancing soul music. A sweet, certain surprise… Raie has paid her dues playing live for many years – slipping through the net commercially, making astounding music.” Martin Cooke – Bluesmatters Magazine
