Snake in the Grass by Alan Ayckbourn; directed by Nikki Packham

It’s never too early to think about a world filled with drama, suspense, intrigue and things that go ‘bump’ in the night.  Yes, this is our June In The Bar Production “Snake in the Grass” by Alan Ayckbourn.  You may have to revise your ideas of an Ayckbourn play, as this is ‘Sisterly Feelings’ with a twist.  Add in a manipulative nurse, ‘well’ down on compassion and you have three mature parts for women to die for – whoops!  So come along to the audition and see how, together with our tiny, but amazing technical team, we can ensure:

“A creepy, scarily, eerily enjoyable evening” ………as the Sunday Times wrote.

Miriam has cared for her father in the family home during his vituperative last years with only the help of Alice, a nurse. On the father’s death Miriam’s older sister Annabel comes home after over 30 years in Tasmania to find daddy has left everything to her.  Alice complains to Annabel that Miriam has sacked her and to gain revenge is intent on blackmail.  She says she has evidence that Miriam did away with the old man. Scatty Miriam and seemingly tough Annabel join forces to deal with Alice, but that is not the end of the story……

Cast;

Annabel Chester – Debbie Hedges
Miriam Chester – Heather Wain
Alice Moody – Maxine Edwards
