Three generations. One chaotic family home. A lifetime of love, arguments and unfinished business.
When Judy Haussman’s children Nick and Libby return to the family home, they bring with them years of memories, old wounds and the baggage of lives that haven’t turned out quite as expected. As granddaughter Summer joins them beneath Judy’s crumbling Devon roof, three generations are forced to face the dreams they once had, the choices they have made and the ties they still cannot escape.
Stephen Beresford’s acclaimed drama is funny, sharp and deeply moving, a beautifully observed portrait of family life in all its glorious, frustrating complexity. Exploring love, loyalty, rebellion and forgiveness, The Last of the Haussmans celebrates the messy connections that bind us together long after we think we have moved on.
‘A lovely bit of work. Its comedy is deliciously sardonic.’ Financial Times
‘It is a knockout – entertaining, sad and outrageous.’ The Observer
