The Nest
By FX Kroetz, translated by Conor McPherson
Directed by Debbie Griffiths
An amateur production by arrangement with Nick Hern Books
A baby is on the way, and young couple Kurt and Martha are determined to build a secure future together. But when financial pressures begin to mount, hope slowly gives way to anxiety. Faced with an impossible decision, they find themselves questioning not only what they can afford, but what they’re prepared to live with.
In Conor McPherson’s acclaimed translation, Franz Xaver Kroetz’s quietly powerful drama unfolds with remarkable honesty and emotional precision. Perfectly suited to the intimacy of our Studio space, The Nest draws audiences into a story that is both deeply personal and profoundly unsettling, asking difficult questions without ever losing sight of the love at its heart.
