News from the BLT Board

Hilary Cordery, our Chair since 2017, has resigned from the Board as she feels unable to continue to commit the time and energy to the role, in the light of her family and other commitments – please see below to her letter to members.

The Board have accepted Hilary’s resignation with regret and would like to thank her for her contributions over the time she has been a Trustee.

Keith Jeremiah, who has been acting as Chair for the last couple of months, has agreed to continue in that role.

Hilary’s letter;

Hello everyone,

I wanted to let you know that, sadly, I have decided to step down as the Chair of the BLT Board of Trustees and as a member of the Board. This will be with immediate effect.

Whilst I have had some great experiences as Chair, and it has been my privilege to have been entrusted with the position, I have found it difficult to give the time to the role that it deserves. With new personal commitments ahead for me in 2019,  I cannot see that this will improve.

This is an exciting time for the theatre, particularly with our plans to redevelop the building now being in their final stages. I think it is only right that the role of Chair is filled by someone who can bring the necessary time, energy and commitment to help drive the theatre forward.

I will remain a fully active member of BLT and am looking forward to donning my director’s hat again in the autumn. It is fair to say that acting and directing have always been my first loves!

I wish my fellow Board members all the very best for the future and would like to sincerely thank those of you who have shown me great personal support over the last 18 months.

With very best wishes for the year ahead,
Hilary
